You can train to be an electrician at College part-tme in the evenings. Surely that would be cheaper?

i looked at that option but it would still mean getting an apprentiship which was the original problem when i started training after leaving school electrical firms want fully qualified workers and are not willing to take apprentices on
Here we go...

I trained from "ohm" to be an electrician after getting a "spark" of interest from seeing a "plug" in the newspaper for a course. It was "shocking" at first and I had to "switch" from my "current" job but it was down to "earth" and I found it not at all re"volt"ing. So "wire" you still reading? Go for it!
It would not mean getting an apprenticeship. I work in a College and we have plenty of older students (some way older than you) training in the evenings to become electricians, none of those are doing apprenticeships. If you do the right courses you end up fully qualified.

Even if you did the course you are on about, you will have the qualifications but still won't have any practical experience.
