I paid 2000 to train as a 360 degree excavator operator. Passed the test no probs got my CPCS/CSCS cards /hard hat /boots and high vis vest. There is loads of work in and around Derby and i am registered with about 10 recruitment agencies. But all the job ads say the same MUST BE EXPERIENCED. So how do you get the experience' if you can't get the work' to get the experience ?. And "They"? say there is a shortage of skilled labour.

Thats the million dollar question i dont know the answer to, it is annoying, uve got the qualifications so you can do teh job but most employers want someone with experience but how do you get experience if no one will give you a chance
had the same problem mate and its about time the goverment stepped in lots of people want work are qualified/willing and hard working but the employer wants experience the ultiumate "catch 22" the only thing I can suggest is try and find someone via friends etc that will be more flexible. providing you can get one job under your belt you'll have a start.
