To cover me for sickness. I work as a registered nurse for NHS professionals. It's classed as a zero hour contract. In the event of being sick I would only get the statutory sick pay. This wouldn't pay my monthly bills. I need some kind of private insurance but have no idea what I need. I'm rarely off sick so it would be just if I was longterm poorly and couldn't work

thankyou thats great
oh right Mark
and I hope you keep well

you can have (off the wall) one lump sum insurance ( hundred thou) for something such as diabetes. These are easily available, you will need a medical and that is probably ..... not what you want - used to be around £40 /mo. I thought that was too much as didnt get it but DID get ca colon aged 47. oo er mrs wrong call there!

the other one is income protection. usual NHS contract full pay six m then half pay six m and nil thereafter - and you can insure for the shortfall ( £80 per m)n.......(a)

the longer you can do without the cheaper it is - above it was 6 m and then onto half pay
so you decide how long you can do without pay - which of course much be certificated
and then after that you probably want - "full on"

thing is - you must have a lot of NHS profs in a union with the same reqts so I wd have thought once you have decided
your first stop is your union rep

trying to do it as a one off is probably going to be more expensive

(a) is the standard contract so I just sort of picked a policy off the shelf and said, 'I'll have that'

thinking ahead - well done mark 10/10 - whilst you are it check your life insurance covcer and write a will
