I am self employed and run Tai Chi classes - I don't employ anyone else. Where do I stand if I ask a friend running other classes to cover for me if I am on holiday or off sick? I myself have professional liability insurance, I presume I need to check whether anyone who covers for me is also covered, but am I technically employing them and do I have any other responsibility toward them? I'd like to know where I stand legally and professionally as regards not just them, but those who attend the class.

They are self employed, yes - but that's my question - would covering my classes be deemed as employing them?
i cant see how - how does payment for the classes work, and how would you see it working when the other person does it?>
No expert, but it occurs to me that if I want to decorate a room and can't be bothered to wallpaper the walls myself then I'd get someone else in to do it for me. I'm not their employer, I'm buying their services.
