Can anyone tell me who i can complain to about a pet insurance company? My dog was attacked by another dog on the 30th March 2016, she was treated at the vets and May 11th 2016 she was given the all clear so we gave the insurance claims forms to the vet to fill in their part and send it off. Of course it came back to us as we had put the wrong date on. It was sent back and been awaiting assessment since May and I think this is totally unacceptable. I have phoned several times but we get the same old chestnut story "we have a backlog of claims" Its cost me £462 in vets fees and i wish to pay back those who helped me pay the upfront cost and i receive the amount back less any excess. Is there a Ombudsman I can write too about such time wasting? They are dam quick to take the payments when its suits them, but when it comes to paying out its a different story.

There is an insurance Ombudsman , I assume it covers pet care insurance.
But you need to have exhausted the company's own complaints procedure first.
As Eddie has said, you can complain to the Insurance Ombudsman, their address will be included in your insurance documentation, but you cannot do this until you have exhausted the company's complaints procedure.

The policy documentation should include details of who you should address your complaint to. Do this in writing. They then have 5 working days from receipt to acknowledge your complaint, followed by an 8 week window to investigate and supply you with their response. These time periods are set by the Financial Conduct Authority in the Insurance Conduct of Business rules and regulations, which unfortunately won't necessarily help to speed up the payment of your claim.
