I'm not sure, but you may be better off putting a regular amount (equivalent to the premiums you would otherwise give to the insurance company) unless you feel her life expectancy is not great (in which case you may not have got life cover anyway).
It's not possible, unless you take out specific "Life of Another " policies (not sure if they are still available) but you need to be able to demonstrate that there is an insurable interest, and certainly both of you have to sign.

Just put the money in the bank instead, that'll help - or put it in an ISA so you don't have to pay tax on it.
Her funeral costs should come out of her estate. You are not obliged to pay for her funeral even if she leaves nothing.
How do you know she hasn't provided for herself?
I'm pretty sure that the over50 life cover offered by the post office wil allow you to do this, as long as it's for a relative and not a complete stranger.
no medicals, and 1 form that needs to be signed, then it's completed in branch. dirct debits can be taken from a card in a different name from the person insured.
worth checking out I guess. Sun life, LV etc do similar policies
yes as long as you can show insurable interest, I'd say this is a such a case.
if as hc says they are not obliged to pay for her funeral, then I'm not sure it's an insurable interest - it's just a personal preference.
Someone once wanted to take out life insurance for me, but I refused to sign.
(On the grounds that the person who wanted to benefit from the insurance on my death would then have a motive for murder)
The insurance company declined to proceed, as my signature/consent was essential.
'When the time comes' make sure the person who organises the funeral is on benefits then they will get a funeral grant around £1200 I think . All funeral directors are obliged by law to porvide a simple basic funeral for the cost of the grant but they really hate you to know that. They are money grabbing bar stewards who will tell you the cheapest possible funeral is around £2500 but if there is simply no money they have to do it for the funeral grant cash.

If there is money in the estate the grant will have to be repaid but it saves the cost of paying for a funeral.
