you should let them know immediately.

Not sure about getting any refund, have you already paid the policy up to date? or do you pay monthly.

If it's a nicer area you will probably get a refund if you've paid in advance. Backdate the day you moved as far as you can... :-)

i pay monthly, im unsure if i should open my mouth. we still own the other property where i had insurance originally.
Yes you must tell them they can be devils for not coughing up on the basis that you have withheld information.
yep, when i mov ed i got a refund
you have to tell them of any change. chances are you wont need to pay anything more if, as you say, its a better insurance area.
If you don't tell them your new address, and then you make a claim, they will get out of paying immediately. Some insurance companies will use any excuse to get out of paying out.
If you keep your car at your new address then yes you must tell them immediately. You may get a refund. When I moved to Hove I had to pay more!
I moved to a better area. It didn't go up much (I also got a way better car) but I had an admin charge. As I think has been said though, they should be told whatever.
Bookbinder is wrong - If you are absolutely sure the area is better and therefore the risk to the insurer is reduced then strictly speaking an insurer will not be able to refuse a payout.

This is because nobody is under any obligation to their insurer to disclose a fact which reduces risk.

From a practical point of view you should, of course, otherwise when your policy is due for renewal the renewal notice will go to your old address.
Just because it is a "nicer" area to live in does not mean it is a lower insurance area. Amongst other thisngs, the area will be rated on the number of claims that the insurer deals with for the post code you are in - thieves quite often steal cars from "nicer" areas as they tend to have better cars - so the premium may go up and you would be penalised if you had not told your insurer. I dont know if flip-flop is completely right but youwould need a crystal ball to work out if the area is regarded as better or worse by your insurer - the only way is to tell em
