I am about to search the web to get a quote for my house and contents insurance, they ask if I have made any claims in the last few years, I cannot remember any, but if I don't mention them I could get penalised later if the insurance company find out about any, any suggestions of how I could find out any claims made that I have forgotten?

You can't remember making any claims in the last few years?

There will probably be something in the small print about not disclosing required information. Really not worth the risk to be honest.
You cant remember if you have made any claims in the past pink, surely you couldnt forget that?

Thanks for the answer shock, I know if information about claims is not given, i am not covered, but what happens if I cannot remember any? I know that the insurance companies do not need a 'get out' clause, and I want to be honest with them, but don't want any problems later on if I have to claim.
If you already have house/contents cover phone your current insurer and ask them

Thankyou JMR27, I know they will be able to tell me about the last year that I have been with them, but what about before then, I am getting almost parnoid about this after the program I watched this morning (Dont Get Done, Get Dom - where a couple are no longer covered by their insurance because the had three claims that had not be disclosed)
On telly this morning, simply ask your current insurer for details ofclaims.
They will still do a CUE search (claims and underwriting) which will bring up any claims on the property

You only need to go back 5 years. Whoever your current provider is with be able to tell you how many NCD years (no claim discount) you have -.

Basicly tell the insurance co. everythinmg you know, and if you cant remember tell them that also!
Previous insurers can tell you ... check with them all and declare everything. Non disclosure is a serious issue which you can then avoid. If you are unsure on dates / amounts etc, then declare this uncertainty too - in writing.
