Any old programme that is not used should be taken off by using the "remove uninstall programmes" via the Control Panel, you may also defrag the hard drive, just type defrag into google and it will tell you what to do also delete all cookies and temporary internet files once again just google, this should speed it up a bit then after all the above is done download "Advance system care" , the free one, and scan the hard drive.

Thanks very much - done all this - has helped!!
I suggest downloading CCleaner - it's free. Run it about once a week to clear out unneeded temporary files etc. Takes seconds each time and will help keep your laptop clutter free.

Also - make sure you regularly scan for viruses and malware using a decent program - don't just assume that because you have a prog installed that it's 100% preventing viruses etc. These can severly slow down your machine.
