Time delay in Freeview

Have noticed that there is atleast a 2 second delay between freeview and normal nanlogue broadcast with freeview losing out. why is that.

Ive noticed that when im on the phone talking to my brother and  have the same prog on, he gets a time delay of about 2 seconds also.Hes got cable?

so when England are in the finals of the world cup and on a penalty shootout if you want to know who won dismantle your freeview connections, go analogue and you will know before the rest of the country does.
Maybe it's to do with the fact that the digital signal has to be encoded before transmission, and decoded before you can watch it.
if you have the radio on in the house, and then put it on thru your sky box, there's also a time delay.
