We don't have ITV HD in sunny Scotland yet (at least via Freesat) however up until recently i could go to channel 977 (London ITV) and that gave me the option via the red button to view in HD.
Has someone rumbled me and pulled a plug oot!!!

Hi oscar, a simple explanation could be that you try re-tuning your freesat box, you may find it is still there. Ron.

Thanks, I'll try that although my box (Humax Foxsat HDR) regularly does overnight updates which call for a re tune every time. I'll keep you posted if I still have trouble but, hopefully STV will allow Freesat to broadcast in HD soon.
