Hi all - over the recent cold snap we have put the timer on the heater but looking at the weather forecast it is going to get milder for the next few days - is there any way I can take it off the time without having to reset the timer when it gets cooler again??

It might help (as always) if you actually gave some details about the equipment you are asking about.

Does it have a thermostat? if so just turn that right down.
Very often timers will have an on- off- auto control so that the timer function can be over- ridden.
