Please Help!

My Volvo 940 has a cobra alarm system which has been acting strangely in conjunction with the drivers door lock. We cannot open the drivers door with either the key or the remote tab. The alarm appears to be working as it should but the push button makes an attempt to rise into the open position but wont. All the other doors will open manually. Is there any easy solution to this problem - of course the big problem is that we cannot take the drivers door lining off if the door wont open!

This once reliable but old brick has sadly gone to the Volvo Valhalla - I have a 960 now and may well need the folk at answerbank to help me in the future. Thank you for your interest though!
