Hi all..... my LCD TV has no sound and my TV repair man says he can bypass the sound to an external speaker/amplifier to solve the problem, trouble is when i google TV speakers i'm hit with millions of options prices ranging from £50-1000+ . He says we can simply attach to a home stereo as that would act as an amplifier, we have got a great old Pioneer stereo but we don't fancy that. Can anyone help.....what do we buy as in simple small speakers set plus an amplifier??

If the TV has a headphone socket you could use PC speakers - a good quality 2.1 set would sound good.

If not you will probably be best to use a home stereo system.

Thank you for the quick reply....when you say home stereo system, do you mean like a small midi hi/cd/radio player - you know the sort of thing around £50 a pop?
All you need is to ensure that if you are buying something, it has the inputs on it. some haven't. Why don't you fancy your old system - if it has the sockets use it.
Are you sure the audio signal actually goes to the external socket? Suggest you try to get sound out of the ext socket first with your old Pioneer before you throw good money after bad. I'm surprised that your TV repairman suggested this solution, no sound is usually something simple.
