What are your thoughts on this email received today - has anyone done this successfully ? :

You may already have heard about this but early next week all UK mobiles will be on a directory which will mean that anyone will be able to access your numbers. It's easy to unsubscribe but it must be done before the beginning of next week to make sure that you are ex-
directory. You may want to suggest it to all your friends and family who have UK mobiles or they could be swamped by unsolicited messages and calls. Removal is recommended by the BBC - type the following links
in your browser.

To remove your number click on the link below, you need your mobile phone with you to do this as they text you a code

1, http://www.118800.co.uk/

2, Click on 'Ex Directory' at top right hand side of page, from there
it's straight forward.

It takes a few minutes before the code comes through.

Since you have to give them your moble number in order to go "ex directory" I would want to check whether they already had it before I gave them my number.

This service has been going for a month now and nobody has yet rung me who I had not given my number to.
I have yet to successfully search for ANYONE on that site.
Huh? It's launched next week, so I don't know how you've searched the site.
Soz, it's been going a month. :)
Yes this has been going round and like SqB I have yet to find anyone anyway!
I think it is some sort of clever marketing ploy. Anyway, I don't answer my phone unless I know who it is.
Not only has it already been going a month (and it certainly doesn't have anything like all UK mobiles on it as the OP claims), but as I understand it, all they do if someone wants your number (and they have it) is send you a text asking if it's ok to give it to whoever it is, not supply it directly.

Storm in a teacup.
Exactly. People are rushing to confirm they are ex-directpry without even seeing if they are on the thing to start with!!

All this does is confirm your mobile is a valid one.
