sounds like the installer mixed up the hot and cold pipes to me!
^ agree
...or is it a washer / dryer?
I would say so - even on a hot wash the final rinse is usually cold
Question Author
oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh just remembered, there's only one pipe now, and there used to be two (red and blue - hot and cold). is that not right? thats all that came with the machine
most new machines are cold fill only, it must be plumbed to the wrong hot in error
Just thought - it is unusual to find a wm with a hot and cold fill these days - usually they are cold fill only.

Has it connected it to the hot tap?
Ooops - didn't refresh before posting.

Sorry.
Is it a washer / dryer Dan?
Question Author
he might have...but it its meant to be connected to the cold tap, where does the hot water come from?!
it's heated inside the machine.

It's a far more efficient way as you only heat the water you need for the wash.
Question Author
oh i get it now, thanks everyone!! i will get the plumber to have a look at it again.

will it still be ok to use in the mean time? got a ton of washing to do!
The machine heats it to the required temperature automatically.

It must be connected to the cold
Can't you pull it out yourself and see if it is connected to the hot pipe?

Or perhaps it is a washer / dryer, and tumbled the clothes in hot air.
No, don't use it, unless you are boiling your towels
or boiling spuds!

i haven't got a clue where to look to be honest! its my bro in law who did it so i'll get him to do it tomorrow
