What's this about? I can't believe I have to offer paypal as a payment option, I haven't used ebay for a few months and it's changed, it says both 'because of my limited history' and then says 'all sellers are required to offer paypal as a payment method.
Ebay own paypal so I can believe it. ARghhh I don't like ebay anymore.

I got ripped off for 200 with paypal, the buyer was fully verified but when as pay pal take about three days to lift the money from the buyers account, I being a good ebayer sent the camera off the minute the money was in my PP acount. Next thing I know the B@st@rds have lifted it back out because the swine who blagged my camera had no money in his bank. I wouls offer a samll discount for cheque or bank giro credit.
I wouldn't buy anything for more than 10 on eBay and not pay by PayPal.

Send a seller a cheque - no goods, no comeback.

There are lots and lots of discussions about it on eBays forums.

Yes goods are covered by paypal but have you ever tried to contact paypal? you spend as much on phone calls paying a small fortune to listen to Palcabels Cannon to eventually be hung up on. Paypal an ebay company make a lot of commision from this method of payment. I would like the choice to include or not to include because they take a high percentage. This is a monopoly and some competition surely should be introduced in the form of another e-payment method..
Stuff them on principal I'll use ebuyer and vivastreet.

ANY ONE INTERESTED IN A DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING ;-) At least 300 off the retail price and only worn 12 times.. online new price 650)

Bizarely I now remember I actually bid and won an item earlier today that was payment on collection, no paypal as he hadn't set it up yet??

So that's the answer to open a new account and don't link it to paypal. But I've gone right off it. Not like it use to be.
Who'd buy off someone with no feedback?
Question Author
Sorry Ethel your comment made me laugh, maybe I'm tired. But someone must or no one at all would have any feedback, would they? Feedback wouldn't exist. lol. Maybe you're tireder than me.

I'm moaning because I don't want to use my Paypal account but have to to sell and item.
I can put in description payment by cheque, postal order or bankers draft only but my listing by the new ebay law will have a pay by paypal option so I can not stop people paying by paypal.

ANYWAY I went to pick up the item I won yesterday (the one that hadn't got a pay by paypal option) and whoooooo.. I expected a middle aged balding wierdo (with his username name) but O MY... this guy is hot, he was in a total flap, infact he refused to let me take it, insisting I come in, sit down, while he's flapping about lol then taking me to look at the item but was insistant he'll bring it around to mine tomorrow morning (early) I said ;-) not that I'll still be in bed or anything... lol
You go, boogieboogie! Tell us how it works out for ya....
You went to pick up an item you won the bidding for on Ebay and the seller refused to let you take the item??? that sounds dodgy to me,have you paid him yet?

hehe no i haven't paid. There was no reason I couldn't take, but had he give it to me he wouldn't have seen me again. The house was huge I don't how it happend but I was in the front room, dining room, kitchen, garage, garden, following his intructions to come in, sit down, come here, have a look at this, I'll just do this etc while appologising for being in such a dizzy state. The house was lovely and spotless, it felt unlived in, like a batchelor place but he must have a wife/girlfriend I did find myself looking for feminine clues but didn't see any. Hehe..
Phew! I thought maybe you had allowed yourself to be distracted by the fact the man was good looking.lol.
to get back to the original question and away from this love at first sight thing,I have an ebay shop and sell lots of stuff. all goes via paypal, the fees are terrible, between them they take around 18%. I have just had a payment reversed, I was told that the customer had paid, and it showed in my pay pal as a credit to me, so I sent the goods. now, the money has gone from my account pending an investigation of some sort, pay pal never explain. so wheres the security in accepting pay pal payments from verified account customers. its a lose ,lose situation. I must say though, that I had a cheque clear through the halifax and a week later it was reversed.I asked the bank how could they do that when it had cleared, and she said,( smutty cow) that they could reverse the funds up to months later if there was a problem with the persons bank account. i.e. that they owed some other bank or solicitor money, they would get preference.
There is no way out, just hope someone starts an alternative to e-bay at half the price and kills them off!

Totally agree thunder. They rip the seller off with ridiculous fees protect the buyer but don't protect the seller. I've had it with that site I don't like it anymore.
