I need to take the front of my gas fire to remove the wallpaper behind it but can't figure how to do it. The round control knob is on the side and I assume this needs removing so that the cover can be slid off. Any idea how to remove the knob?

hi ruth its the same as all knobs, you have to pull it
its on a central spindle thats "D" shaped so you can reposition it in the correct setting
Some control knobs are fitted with a grub screw to stop them coming loose. This will be evident from a small hole somewhere on circumference on the knob.

Normally the grub screw will be tightened & loosened by the use of an appropriately sized allen key (hex drive).
as said before most control knobs will come off with a good tug, with some you also have to unscrew the bezel as well but not many.
then its simply a case of looking around the fire for the screws, every fire is different, some are hidden behind the top grill, some at the bottom or the side and some you can't take the case off at all you have to remove the whole fire (which your not allowed to do unless your corgi registered! )
