Welding using a hedgehog. rofl sorry couldnt help myself! Other than that, I don't have a scooby.
Just had a quick look on google, and it confirms my thoughts. It is a process of using high frequency sound to basically 'vibrate' the atoms of the two parts being welded, together.
It's normally used on fabrics with a high percentage of plastics - nylon/polypropylene etc. The utrasonic head presses the layers of fabric together and vibrates them. This causes friction which heats up the fabrics causing them to melt and fuse together - thus unpickable stitches.
Ultrasonic welding uses high pitched sounds to bond materials together.
