My ex is wealthy. He has his own place, drives a mercedes, is out every night and is currently buying a villa in Spain. He is also self employed. For the last 4 years he has been assessed by the CSA to pay 42 per month for our son. I waited 2 yrs to contact them - as a last resort, so for 2 yrs he paid nothing. He sees his son regularly (I don't bring our son into adult issues) but never spends any money on him even then!
I have tried everything with the CSA to try and get them to reassess his accounts (now 2 yrs out of date). If the CSA calculate the 42 per monthson 15% of his earnings. then he is not surviving on enough money to run his houses, car etc etc. However, they are not interested in this, only on making a calculation for his out dated accounts.
They said it would 'help' if I had an exact address for his villa but as far as my ex is concerned, I don't even know he is in negotiations to buy it. I found out by default about it.Another awful thing is that our son has passed the enterance exam to Merchant Taylor's Boys School, which is a private school for very clever children and yet we (my husband and I) cannot afford to send him. We are not poor ourselves and yet with no contribution from my ex, we are unable to give him this fantastic chance.
Is there anything I can do to get this miserly father to support his son properly?

I suspect theres ****** all you can do. My boyfriends ex has an order to have the money taken from her wages at source after 2 years of nothing. We've had two full payments in the 5 months since this was supposed to be enforced and the rest have been a fraction of what they should have been. Even with enforced payments they can't actually make her pay. So while I'm working my bum off to help her son shes out getting ******, having her nails done and buying gigantic dangly earings aplenty. The whole system sucks!
huh! you couldnt even keep a medium sized dog on 42 quid a month.
as above, i suspect there is nothing you can do about it except shame the dad into it
my partner earns 750 pound a month, we have 2 childrren together and he has a son with his ex, even though he is on a low wage he has to pay 70 pound a month to the csa for his other son. id get this calculation double checked, it def isnt right
By my friends accounts you can count on the CSA for b*****r all. They are a mess and so far behind with the people that they have managed to keep on their database from 1990's you will be lucky if you ever ger a coherent answer in the next 30 yrs. I don't know what to suggest and i know you must be so frustrated by it, if he wants to life his playboy life and put it before his children then he will, some men cannot deal with growing up and accepting responsibility, i would just think yourself lucky that at least you have a husband and surrogate father to your kids and sod git features, lol! Its crap but what else can you do!!
xx
the csa isnt interested in your claim because you obviously work if you were on the dole they would investigate cos the money would then go to them!!!!!! the system just doesnt work
The CSA are not interested because it is too difficult for them to assess self employment. You are actually lucky to get anything as because my ex is unemployed and, sorry anne but I am on benefits, I am awarded NIL!!!! even though he has a boat, caravan, holidays abroad, pets, new cars, designer clothes - need I go on!!!

Thank you for your replies - even though they are all bad news!!
Hi, can you speak to the Merchant Taylor's Boys School re a scholarship for your son. There is alot of help out there re education and I am sure the school would help if money is tight. I work in an independent school and many pupils are helped with scholarships. Good luck!
