Our dishwasher has stopped working. We switch it on now and the waste pump comes on for a minute or two, stops and flashes the pre-soak lamp 6 times. If I press the pre-soak button, the waste pump starts again, stops and flashes 7 times.

Anyone out there have any idea what this means before I have to call out the engineer?

Have you tried reading the troubleshooting section of the owners manual?

No doubt that code means something.

Yes but there's nothing in it that says anything about flashing lamps - at least not in the version I have.

It's pretty brief (in 18 languages) to say the least.

Well for a start if you have a digital dishwasher with a buit in computer you are bound to get more problems. My dishwasher had a problem similar, it would fill up with water and empty but the spray arms would not wash the dishes, it turned out all I needed was a new capacitor for the spray pump (18) and hey hey!
