I'm sorry, but I don't know all the technical terms. The thing is, while my mouse is idle or the arrow is hovering , the cursor, or arrow, or 'hand', or eggtimer symbol keep flickering. When I go to click on something, it's very difficult to know whether I've been successful as the 'hand' signs keeps quivering and disappearing! What's going on? Do I need a new mouse, or is there something else amiss? Thanks for your help.

Hello Flirty, my mouse has been doing the same thing this morning. I tried to look up an old question in catagory search and that is when it was worse, which seems odd. It has only just started happening and as we only bought this computer in January, it shouldn't need renewing already. Sorry this isn't an answer, but I would like to know how to stop it happening too. I had an automatic update on a programme this morning, have you?
mine is doing it too! Just this morning. Thought it was my vision, and I was getting a migraine.
yeah mine too... think it's probably to do with the ads on this site...c'mon 2buttons, sort it.
Don't take this personally flirty but do you have a dirty mouse - as just a bit of fluff inside can make him a nervous wreck?
Hello Cetti, I don't know about Flirty's mouse, but I thought it might be that too so cleaned mine this morning but I am still getting the flickering arrow.
Hey just noticed that I am getting this too but only on this site. I have also noticed that I am getting a pop up blocked (my choice) for every new window that opens. When I click on a question - blocked pop-up, when I click back - blocked pop-up, when I click on a cagegory name - blocked pop-up. I know answer bank is partial to the odd pop-up or two but this is ridiculous !!!

Hmmm, this is very interesting, isn' t it, that we're all suffering the same symptoms! Thinking about it, I'm not sure if it was just with AB that I was having trouble with or not. I'll have to check when I get home. I've no problems here at work. Cetti, my mouse is spotless, having only just had a good going over, and even though he was a filthy little beast beforehand, he wasn't playing up then! :-) Anyone else with the same problem, or an idea what's going on?
Me too and my mouse was just cleaned yesterday and new batteries put in.
hello folks this is definitely an AB thing and hopefully the editor will get his finger out? (i'll email him with a copy of this posting) i can't remember the exact reason but it is a browser /web page problem most likely caused by one of the adverts they're plugging and as some of you have spotted, a popup which isn't working properly.
Its the 'Ask Jeeves - find Saturn' advert - When you move the mouse within the advert - the cursor is changed to a target (so you can find Saturn - geddit). Unfortunetely it has a weird side-effect on the cursor outside of the iframe.
Well thank you very much!! (as Margo would say).My mouse was perfect until he saw all the replies - and now he's joined in.... a case of group hysteria I fear. :-D

Thanks for all your answers and ideas as to the cause of the problem (and sorry you have now been affected Cetti - awful isn't it?) which I hope will be sorted out PDQ! It's driving me mad! I'm at home now and my poor mouse is going demented, and it's not just on AB either. I usually have several sites open at once and the mouse behaves the same on all of them. Perhaps if I log out of AB? Hmmmm, I'll try that and see what happens. I shall return with the results of my experiment, in due course!

I'm back! Yep it's definitely AB, and the problem starts when the Ask Jeeves Saturn advert is showing! Let's hope it gets sorted soon - and that annoying pop-up which doesn't quite make it! Oooer!!
I'm at home now where I use a Mac and it's not happening.
it won't do, thewillow, it's down to the browser (Microsnot's IE)
I just came on to ask the same question - just had to tag along!

Tag along noddy - the more the merrier! But, dare I say it? I think things have been sorted! My mouse is no longer a quivering wreck! Yay!!!!!! :-D Thanks to you all for your answers, and to whoever has sorted the problem!
