Can anyone tell me why hairdressing scissors have that little finger rest on them? Is there a point to it, or is it just to make the hairdresser's hand look elegant?! Thank you!

It's to provide greater control for the hairdresser when snipping has to be particularly precise. If it has the added effect of enhanced elegance, that's just a bit of a bonus.
i think it's probably because you hold hairdressing scissors with your third finger and you need you pinky to be able to use your third finger. they'd be pretty shaky without it.
Ah, but do they cater for us left handers?
hey, when you're cutting hair and you get a certain itch, you need something to scratch it with :s
an answer for smudge, yes you can get left handed scissors. i did see a couple of years ago a catologue full of left handed goods, should be able to find it on the net somewhere
Well as a quality scissors manufacturer,we will say that finger rest makes your hands stable while cutting hairs from different angles.Scissors should be selected which has a finger rest enabling you to control on your working.Wanna see more details ,please visit http://www.venusworldwide.com
