Is the playing side of a c.d. or dvd the silver side or the labelled side ?

The playing side is the silver side, without the label.

The CD or DVD goes in the tray silver side down (the label showing on the top)

And unlike a vinyl record, it plays from the inside to the out side.
AFAIK. Technically it's the label side. The silvered layer (that contains the data) is added to the clear plastic disc then the label print goes over the top of this, so the information is just below the printed label.
