Hey there Im looking into buying a camcorder, just for recording little events and holidays. I've got around 200 to spend. I was looking at a "JVC GR-D247 " and i managed to find one for about 165 (i was told that normally they're about 300) . However, I've read in a few places that JVC camcorders tend to break after about 12 months. I also dont know if this is a good camera! I know absolutely nothing about camcorders. I've looked through places like kelkoo and pricerunner, but i dont even know where to start, ie whats a good digital zoom and resolution?!

Anyone got any suggestions on a good camera for around 200, or can anyone verify whether JVC's really do fall apart at the seams after 12 months! Or is the deal for the JVC GR-D247 good?I dont want anything fancy, just something i can record bits and pieces on!

Thanks

Had my JVC for over 8 years, the battery failed a few months ago and we were going to buy a new updated camcorder but in the end decided to buy a new battery. It's still working fine with good enough results, the picture is really good on our 32" screen and it's only 800K pixels.
