How can i protect an idea i have about an invention without getting a patent? Can i copyright my idea?

Not sure if it applies in this situation, but when we are discussion confidential matters with clients at work we sign an NDA - Non disclosure agreement

Look through the yellow pages for a Patent Agent (forgot the correct name) and arrange a meeting with him / her and they'll sort it out. It costs about �200. And Re: Einstein the problem is if someone else actually thinks of the same idea.
