Insufficient Postage Paid

I got a card through my letterbox from Royal Mail for the above. The amount due was £7. I am expecting a small parcel that was due early this week...in fact I'd contacted the seller who responded that I was not the only customer to contact her.

Meanwhile,  I've just checked the Royal Mail site, and the fee for a small parcel is £3.50. Why would I be charged £7...which is for missing postage/fake stamp?

Seller says postage was paid at post office. I've bought from her before and she's reliable.

Unsure. Maybe ask RM why they think it wasn't already paid and to explain why they have demended double.

Then tell them to send it back as you aren't paying for it.  Ask the seller to try again ? RM are their couriers after all; not yours.

How are the fees worked out?

If your item had insufficient postage or no stamps attached, a flat rate fee will be charged as follows:

• Small Parcel - no postage paid/counterfeit stamp - £7.00
• Small Parcel - insufficient postage paid - £3.50
• Small Parcel - non-barcoded stamp used - £3.50

It says £7 here for small parcel

They implies they are claiming nothing was paid. In which case the seller needs to prove otherwise then sue for compensation.

There was a story few months ago about fake stamps - and some of those "accused" of using fake stamps actually got them from the post office.

Can you go to your depot and see the parcel....find out for sure why the charge is £7?.......if it's the one you were expecting, you could pay , get proof of payment with photos and then ask for it back from the seller.

Short and curly's springs to mind.

Surely they would fit in an envelope though, no need for a parcel.

I'm too far from the depot, so that's out.

Seller says it was weighed at post office. If she has proof, I'm sure she can contest it...and reimburse me. Well work something out.

Barry...£7 is for none or fake...mine was marked as insufficient. That's £3.50

Douglas...it's definitely in need of a parcel if it's the item I'm expecting.

Douglas is picking up on the short and curlies comment. Maybe it reflects the size of his package?

Dohhhh! I'm rather slow on the uptake 🙄🤭😂

First class delivery has been reliable so far, NMA. 😉

If the seller paid at the post office, she would have received a receipt showing that and you should ask for an image of it.
