….after water ban exemption.

Just one snag for those claiming to be so concerned about the environment. The cement industry is one of the main producers of carbon dioxide, a potent greenhouse gas.

Perhaps nothing is off the agenda if it suits a particular purpose - or could it be they haven't done their homework? It wouldn't be the first time.

Leaving aside the a actual actions of these people for a moment .

Why should sporting venues and alike be exempted ?
I doubt filling a few holes is going to increase cement production exponentially!
Basils - the sports industry employs many thousand people and sport is excellent in combatting menatal health issues.

I doubt watering one golf course will cause the planet to collapse either - but there's a principle there that seems to have been conveniently overlooked.
It says ‘sites’, Naomi.
They're not even watering the whole course, just the greens which use very fine grasses that will quickly die without water. Some golf courses have their own irrigation systems, including lakes on the course that feed water to the greens and tees. Many do not, however.
If they must protest then filling the holes is probably the least extreme - they could have dug up the turf or doused it with weed killer!

That may well be true of the Sports Governing Bodies in the UK, ZM, but do you know if it also applies to France. Which, of course, is where this vandalism took place?
As the link states, the 'exemption' has rightfully caused controversy across the Channel. I can just imagine the same happening here under similar circumstances.
Your local bowls club probably waters their bowling green, too ...
I heard that because of the water shortage Liz Truss is announcing that all swimming pools must close two lanes immediately.

:-))
Ken, why would sports not employ thousands of people in France? Did you see the bit which read ‘ Gérard Rougier of the French Golf Federation [ ] added that 15,000 people worked in golf courses across the country.
Don't they just wait until it hardens then pull it out ?
Archibaldy at 10:02, the government has decreed that all water in swimming pools is to be diluted.
// Don't they just wait until it hardens then pull it out ? //

They'll just dig round the edges and get it out, make another hole somewhere else on the green and fill in the cement hole with the plug from the new hole. 10 minutes work.
Electrochem // the government has decreed that all water in swimming pools is to be diluted. //

Ha ha. They'll probably dilute it with chlorine if my local pool is anything to go by.
What a spiteful lot they are.
‘Don't they just wait until it hardens then pull it out ?’

Pure filth. Reported ;-)
