the public should be able to vote to have a general election whenever they see fit that is known as democracy the idea we have to wait a certain amount of time to call for a new leader is not democracy power to the people

well that's got the prize for the stupidest suggestion of the decade! How's that going to work then? We have a referendum to decide to have a GE? Right oh! How is the referendum initiated? I know a referendum......oh hang on! PMSL!

Mind you I suppose the sun is over the yardarm somewhere in the Empire :-)
No nation runs true democracy; some have a form of it, others aren't advanced or capable enough to even get that far.

Here in the UK the version allows to calling for representatives for a period to support the view of their constituents. It doesn't stop it being called democracy simply because there is no system for the people to dissolve the parliament at any time, for the reasons given in the first paragraph above.
