Why So Complicated

It may be just me, but why does everything seem to be so complicated and confusing.
Since Thursday night I've felt like a bag of crap, bunged up nose, sneezing like there's no tomorrow, just like a bog standard cold.
So just now I thought I would take my temperature. So whats normal temp? I'd forgot, because I can't remember the last time I ever bothered to take it.

Googled it and OMG. Instead of just getting 1 or 2 answers for quick reference your confronted with a whole boat load of charts/ variations/ ages of patient, what time of day you take your temp. Some doctors say this, some say that, but they agreed that it should be around this. Jesus!!!! HELP :)

It seems whatever you look up on the internet now your left wishing you'd never bothered, and come away more confused than you was before you went on. Just having a rant :) :)

normal body temperature =
37 degrees Celsius
Question Author
I'm not dead then yet, taken two 36.4 / 36.6
36.5-37.5. But, I agree. I find Google very much offers what they "think" I wanted to know and not what I actually asked.
They are unbelievably biased in many respects.
Or 98.6...for those who think in Fahrenheit
Question Author
They just seem to take things to far now pixie. Much to much info way over the top. :)
They always used to say 98.4 in Fahrenheit and then, when 37 C became the norm it was changed to 98.6, which converts exactly to 37C. Funny that.
And not always accurate....
It's a waste of time anyway. When I had covid I didn't even have a temperature.
All this relying on Google is eventually going to take away peoples' common sense and stop them thinking for themselves. Put the back of your hand on your forehead and if it feels hot you probably have a temperature, if it doesn't, you don`t.
I know when I feel crappy...finding out I've got a fever only makes me feel worse.
I must say that I can't see any point in taking my own temperature. If I'm ill I know I'm ill, whatever my temperature reading might be. I can see that a medic might use temperature as an indicator whether a patient is really ill but taking your own temperature seems pointless.

^^ Covid did cross my mind hence taking temp because I remember them saying your temp can be high? but it can with a normal cold I would think.

I normally get a good cold about once every 2 years, its just over that.
I have never taken my own temperature, only clients and back of neck for babies. You already know if you have one.
Question Author
bhg Well yes I agree, and I'm not ill by any means. I was just interested to see if I was in the high number.
Before I *knew* I had covid, I felt achey, possibly feverish. Then the sneezing kicked in. Didn't feel awful, but certainly not top form either.
Question Author
^^ How long did it last, about the same time a cold lingers?
The Art and Principles of Medicine and Surgery is simple and it is only people that make it complicated and then of course came the Internet.

However if...a big if...you really know what you are talking about then the Internet can be a worthwhile innovation.
A precis of Sqad's first sentence - if it weren't for people medicine would be easy.
bhg...LOL
I've just typed 'normal body temperature' in to Google. Top of the page, a big box with just '37 degrees Celsius'.
Seems straightforward enough to me
