My daughter who I spent a few hours with on Monday, phoned me this morning to say she has shown positive on a lateral flow today, she is going for a PCR test this afternoon.
I know I should test myself, so I asked a neighbour who was going shopping today if he could pick a test up for me at the chemist but he came back empty handed as there are none.
I've tried to book a test online but it said none available in England!
No idea how my daughter booked hers unless she said she is a front line worker.
What can I do?

Do you have symptoms? If you don't there is no need to isolate. Just order some LFT tests to be sent to you https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests if you want some
The is no stock online again though, try local community centres or local authority website if pharmacies have run out.
Gp surgery. .?
I tried to order lateral flow test on line yesterday but told none available this was at 11am. Tried again this morning at 7.30 and the order went through. Evidently they have only so many they can send out each day . Just hope that the test arrives in next couple of days, chemists are saying they are not getting deliveries
No GP surgeries in Bristol stock them, not sure about other areas although a pharmacy on the same site might, but most appear to have run out as well now.
Our local authority deliver stock to community centres and libraries. Perhaps ring around, even if out of stock they may know who has some left
You might find somewhere on here

I live in Manchester and the nearest place I can get tested is Deeside!
Can't phone my GP as they close on Wednesday afternoons.
I saw my youngest daughter on Saturday and she had just started with a cold, so the sore throat I have today could be from her, or it could be Covid off my daughter I saw on Monday.
Youngest had a PCR and that was negative.
As I am supposed to be going to her for Christmas, I really need to know before then otherwise I'll be spending it on my own.
I'll look at local authority websites and will try again early tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the link chelle, I'll take a look.

bednobs, I don't feel poorly, but I do have a sore throat and just a slight cough, more the symptoms of a cold.
Wow... there's several within 15 minutes of me.
Yes an lftf is enough...but if you can't get one get a pcr. When I was pinged I has no symptoms but was advised to do pcr not lft
Just googled and found some test centres in greater manchester

bobb where in Manchester?
cant someone in your daughter's house who's been vaccinated bring you one of theirs? Neighbours have any spare?
Go on gov.uk and enter your details for free pcr. Say you have symptoms. You'll get choice of centres or be able to get one by post but walking in will be quicker
Question Author
bednobs I asked my daughter who is going for a PCR as I know she has them, but she needs them herself for her, her husband and 2 children.
chelles link gives the names of local pharmacies, so I will ring round them.
surely someone you know has a spare? The govt recommended everyone be doing twice weekly tests for at least the last six months, so i would imagine someone you know must have a spare one?
I have a spare pack but that's not particularly helpful as i live in the south or i'd bring it to you
I agree loads of neighbours/people with kids etc should have them if you can ask (via FB or Nextdoor) but as Xmas depends on your result why not go for straight for the PCR anyway?
Where in manchester are you.? I bet if you drive around past some shopping towns you'll see some yellow signs for covid test centres.
