There are lots of old musical films on over the next few weeks.
These are the ones on Freeview.
Carousel and South Pacific on Monday
Guys and Dolls Wednesday
Meet me in St Louis Xmas day
Singin in the rain Boxing day
My Fair lady, 7 brides for 7 brothers, Calamity Jane, West side story Monday 27th
Lots more recent musicals as well.
There are a few films I'm looking forward to that I haven't seen before like Saving Mr Banks, A star is born (remake) Judy with Renee Zellweger.
Which films can you recommend and are there any you are looking forward to watching?

The Gay Divorcee and Top Hat - essentially the same film, but who wouldn't want to watch Fred and Ginger "hoofing"?
Looking through the Radio Times listings, I see that the following films are on soon:

Shaun of the Dead (5 stars, 2340 ITV, Tues 21st - One of the funniest films ever made, in my opinion!)

ET the Extra-Terrestrial (5 stars, 1130 ITV, Wed 22nd - As heart-warming as they come!)

Matilda (4 stars, 1710 C5, Thurs 23rd - You can't go wrong with Roald Dahl, can you?)

Back to the Future (5 stars, 1545 ITV2, Christmas Eve - A terrific comedy!)

The Lavender Hill Mob (5 stars, 1835 Talking Pictures TV, Christmas Day - Ealing Studios at its very best!)

Shaun the Sheep Movie (4 starts, 1010 BBC1, Boxing Day - Anything from Aardman is always worth a watch!)

Some Like it Hot (5 stars, 1420 BBC2, Boxing Day - Often rated as the best comedy movie ever made!)

Isle of Dogs (4 stars, 2315 Film4, Mon 27th - I've not seen this one yet but it's ranked an as exceptional and unique comedy by many reviewers, so I reckon that it'll be worth a a watch)

Wallace and Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (4 stars, 1355 BBC1, Tues 28th - Aardman again!)

Inside Out (5 stars, 1340 BBC1, Wed 29th - I've not seen this but a 5-star movie from Pixar has just got to be good!)

Raiders of the Lost Ark (5 stars, 1845 C4, Thurs 30th - Speilberg & Lucas in fine form!)

Coco (5 stars, 1440 BBC1, New Year's Eve - Another 5-star Pixar movie I've not seen before)
Oh I absolutely love My Fair Lady!
Question Author
Chris, are any of those musicals?
7 Brides for 7 Brothers was, I think, the first movie I ever saw. My sister took me.
I tried watching Saving Mr Banks just recently and gave up. It mirrored the format of Mary Poppins - but it was dire. They shouldn't have bothered.

'Judy' wasn't bad but there were times when I felt I was watching Bridget Jones in the starring role.

I like most of the old musicals, especially Singin in the Rain, Calamity Jane, and West Side Story.
From Chris's list - Some Like it Hot is my absolute favourite of all time. Love it!
>>> Chris, are any of those musicals?

No. I thought that you'd already exhausted the list of musicals and were looking for something different!
To me there is only 1 star is born and that is Judy Garland and James Mason.
Doesn’t come round often but try and catch it when you do absolutely heartbreaking.
The OP asked
/Which films can you recommend and are there any you are looking forward to watching?/
Lady Gaga made a pretty good job of it.
7 brides for 7 brothers was my wife's favourite film.

I love Shallow from the recent A Star Is Born film. Beautiful song.

My favourite classic musicals are the Wizard of Oz and West Side Story. I don't know if they're on over Xmas though. I very rarely check tv listings.
Question Author
Chris sorry, I didn't explain that properly, I meant other musical films I might have missed, or similar.
Naomi mentioned Some like it Hot which I don't know if it's a musical but it's the type of film I would watch.
