\\'Pepper spray has been used, the baton, some people have been bitten by police dogs'//

she forgot to mention the destruction of property and attempted murder.

I don't think she will be a councillor for much longer.

On FB it was stated that a handful of Special Constable turned up to help without being asked. He later said that he had never been so scared in his life.

The protesters should be prosecuted for damage and injuries to Police Officers. I hope no K9s were injured.
The greens live in a parallel universe.
Setting fire to a police van is an offence, but calling it attempted murder is ridiculous.
A stupid thing to say, and no one will be sought for ‘attempted murder’.

As to her losing her seat, I doubt it. The 14 Tories on the council are more endangered.

Would'nt it depend one whether there were police inside and how severe the fire was??

It's not too ridiculous if the perpetrators knew there were people inside the van.
Good to see we agree on something newjudge!!Am wondering whether if a mob surrounded Sunks car and torched it with him inside he'd just dismiss it as high jinks/over exuberants

There was someone in the police van.

It happens, bobbin, it happens!!! :-)
There were hundreds of police there, and attempted murder is a very serious offence.
So can we expect to see the the culprit(s) arrested and charged with attempted murder? - Of course not.
Bristol has always seemed to be out of synch with the rest of the West Country. All 4 MPS are Labour. There were also riots there in 1980 in the St. Paul's district.

sunk, would you agree that setting fire to a police van with someone in it is also a very serious offence.
the officer could have been burnt to death,
the van could have exploded and killed everyone inside and anyone near the explosion, not serious...then what is, an atom bomb.

// Avon and Somerset police have retracted widely reported claims that officers suffered broken bones and a punctured lung during attempts to disperse a protest on Sunday night.

There was widespread outrage when the force made the claims in a press release on Monday that “a total of 20 officers were assaulted or injured and two of them were taken to hospital after suffering broken bones. One of them also suffered a punctured lung.”

But in an updated press release on Wednesday, the force clarified this was not true, saying: “Thankfully, following a full medical assessment of the two officers taken to hospital, neither were found to have suffered confirmed broken bones.” Around the same time, a BBC reporter said on Twitter that Andy Marsh, the head of the force, had admitted in a press conference that no officer had a punctured lung. //
