This tread is inspired by my just having filled in the Census form :-))

If you were to write your own autobiography, what would be your opening line, your 'hook'. Pat Phoenix already used my original choice, so here's my second;

"By all accounts, i was conceived under the kitchen table."

Hope it was a good book, Mally :-))
Ken, I'm going to pinch the one from George Orwell...

'It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen'

Or maybe Douglas Adams...

'The story so far: in the beginning, I was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move'

Was hoping for an 'original' opening line, Builder. Something along the lines of, "The only time i was ever quiet as a baby, was when i was playing with my building blocks." :-))
Later in my life I found out I was born in the wrong month to suit my parents.
And there I was, the last of the @#£#% line. And the world mourned.
I was born in Torquay, for a crime I didn't commit.
Ok Ken...

"After I was born, I had to wait six years before my true fate was shown to me... when I was run over by a Builders' Merchants truck."

(True story)
"Buy a Biker a Pint"
The Builder: That's good.
Paigntonian, you have my sympathies.
As Robert Scott almost said after he'd discovered it ............

"Torquay...Great God! this is an awful place and terrible enough for us to have laboured to it without the reward of priority. Well, it is something to have got here, and the wind may be our friend to-morrow. Now for the run home and a desperate struggle. I wonder if we can do it."

As you know, along with Plymouth, it is mostly disowned by the rest of Devon. ;o)
Even though I was born with a head start, I soon realised life is not about winning.
'No-one is gong to believe this' - should get 'em hooked. :)
I survived against all odds and I'm still here.
// "This is going to be a really dull book. I wouldn't bother if I were you."//
this is rather a long book but start here page 1 and you will soon be thro it - hopefully
I was the child in the glass case!
// Even though I was born with a head start, I soon realised life is not about winning.//

Even though I was born with a head, I soon realised that if is not needed for a full life......
