Help, this cold weather is getting the better of me !

I have been having problems with the heating one minute its fine the next no hot water of heat !

Check the system and the radiators are full of air, beeld them out and the system works for an hour or so , then full of air again.

I have checked the header tank and its full, its an old back boiler system with a "Y" valve and pump, I thought it was the pump as it it was making noises, probably trapped air !

Unable to get the "Y" valve out fittings to tight !!! but the lever on the top works one minute hot water the next heating.

Then nothing any ideas ?

Problem sorted, found pipe from feader tank blocked, so when venting rads of only getting air out of system as I checked the header tank it was always full.

Solution found by tying off the header tank float valve and draining the system suspecting sludge blockage, found blockage alright !!!! but not where I expected it.

System flushed and inhibitor chemicals added !

HOT HOUSE AND WATER AGAIN :)

Pump

just some info, if you bleed air from rads turn heating off. as depending on how old system is, some drag in air if you try bleeding them when heating is still on, therefor making it worse.
