Put them through the dishwasher and put in a low oven for a few hours

Hi i do not have a dishwasher
Dish washer = not sterile.

Just wash them with hot soapy water, rinse, drain, then pop on oven shelf . I think the dish washer is over kill as it harbours germs anyway much like a washing machine. If you wish to use a dish washer first you must sterilise it.

Just sterilise the same way you would a baby bottle.. IE pressure cooker.
Sodium metabisulphite ?
Used to use it when I used to make wine and needed sterile bottles.
wash them and put them in a low oven
anything over 120'C
and that is so low nothing would cook ...

Jam inside isnt a good medium - the tops arent either depending on the sugar content - are you planning to put some toppy thing on top - some are sealed.

[Historically - it was not spoilt jam - but jam with a fungus spot on top that got Koch thing about single bacteria - but it is CLEAR that the spore landed from the air - as did Fleming penicillin spore]
I always thought sodium metabisulphate was a good sterilising agent mixed in water. Lot of home brewers sterilise bottles with it.
Sorry OG. Crossed posts.
Aye, fungi can grow on the rubber seal of dish washers and washing machines. A kitchen sink is easily bleached, no seals to harvest germs / fungi. A pressure cooker really is the best way.
oh if you have a pressure cooker
120'C at two atmospheres for 15 mnutes
kills everything
Can get cheap and easy

I soak mine in hot water and milton
The quickest, easiest way is simply to place the clean and dry jars on the oven shelves and "cook" at 120-130 C for about 15 mins. Leave to cool down a bit in the oven and use straight-away while still warm.
