Unfortunately I dropped my ipod into a bowl of water - literally for 2 seconds - picked it out immediately, dried it and left it in the airing cupboard for several days. But obviously this hasn't worked because I am now unable to charge it up. Have I wrecked it forever? Does anyone have any ideas please?

You may have rusted a connection port. It's not recommended to allow the liquid in the phone to evaporate as this causes oxidisation. It's recommended to try and absorb as much water as possible with something such as uncooked rice

Thank you for the answer but do you think it can be repaired if I take it somewhere - or do I abandon it?
I would personally abandon it (i'm that kinda guy, in with the new i say)

But yes ,i think it is repairable. It may cost you a similar price to a second hand one though. Something to think about.

You could get one that would 'seem like new; (but would be used) for £50.

Diddling with the charging connections / potential new component / washing with alcohol to remove oxidisation and dirt could end up around £50, if not more.
