A hypothetical question.

If I were to record footage of a traffic incident on my dashboard camera, how would I pass it to those who need it?

Potentially the police, insurance companies and the drivers involved might want it.

Would I need to transfer it to CD or a memory stick? I guess the police and insurance companies would fear computer viruses.

Would posting it on YouTube be the answer?

I think you would upload it and send electronically. Memory sticks are best avoided unless you are 100% sure you know where they have been and use a very strong virus scan on it before you open it.
I think if I were in that situation I would ask the interested parties how they would like it.

I had wondered about attaching it to an email, but I would have thought the file would be too big for that.
I would use the Youtube option. (The police have been known on occasion to react to YouTube posts on their own initiative)

Thanks.

If it happens I will have to learn how to upload a video.
I have two dashcams - front and rear. At full resolution one of them takes 2/3 GB for a 5 minute clip, the other around 1GB. These would be quite large files to email.
Dashcams can be set to record shorter clips at lower resolution; they can also be edited (if you know how and have the software).
