There is a post on Facebook which shows a Krispy Kreme truck wedged under a low bridge.

The Police and others suggested that they let down the tyres to un-wedge it.

A suggestion was made that the Police take the doughnuts ‘into custody’ in the hope that it would change the height of the van. It was a humorous suggestion but is there any logic in this suggestion?

If anything, removing its load would increase the height of the lorry. When a vehicle is loaded up its springs and tyres compress and it sits lower to the ground. Removing the load would obviously raise it back up. Methinks the Boys-in-Blue fancied a few free doughnuts :-)

Removing the weight of the load would allow the suspension to rise and cause it to be jammed even tighter.

Letting the tyres down could work.
Surely they would take them into custardy?
NJ is right.More weight should be added to lower the height of the vehicle, letting down the tyres would also help.
Depends on how much raising agent they contained ;-)
You are yeasting Lynne?
Might be.
Goodness, they are in a jam!

Perhaps they could raise the bridge slightly? Just a couple of centimetres should do it.
Best idea yet Tills;-))
:-) I know, LB.
Best thing would be to leave it and wait for someone to nick all the wheels.
Be difficult to Nick the wheels - no room to jack it up.

I suppose that the Police's first thoughts were to save the cargo - maybe the officers were as good at maths are me.

It was in Ely.
I bet the driver feels a right...er...doughnut!
Reminds me of the man out walking and came across a driver in a similar situation. "Are you stuck?" he said. "No" said the driver " I was out delivering this bridge and got lost".
What the police should do is suggest that they sit inside the truck and eat the doughnuts. Eating the doughnuts is, of course, irrelevant but the extra weight of the policemen might compress the springs/tyres enough to get the truck out.
the driver is obviously not a polo player
he couldnt find the hole in the middle !

{stop sniggering at the back ...]

Oh I am not a good reader - I thought said donut

Is that a doughnut or a meringue? No you're right enough, it's a doughnut. Best said in Scottish accent.
How dim have they got to be? Just dig the road from under the truck.
