Ok, a bit of a how it works / science question.
I have a radio control boat that is sitting a bit low in the water. Can i put something more buoyant like polystyrene inside the hull to make it float higher. Or does the hull have to be made of the more buoyant material on the outside to take effect.
Can i make an already premade hull float higher? Similarily if you can put polystyrene in can you put it on one side to increase it on one side.

"...but I think putting polystyrene inside won’t make a bit of difference." Yes it will. It will make the boat heavier and so it will sit even lower in the water. As Mexican says, you must decrease the weight of the boat. Any extra buoyancy added must be added to the outside below the current water line (like a "lifejacket") to increase the volume of the vessel....

Surely the only way is to make the boat lighter? Archimedes!
I don’t know a lot about physics but I think putting polystyrene inside won’t make a bit of difference. Making the overall weight lighter probably. Or making the hull wider possibly.

The boat is as light as it can be with the smallest of battery, servo and radio gear. The hull is a premade hull, in fact the whole electrics are pre fitted. So not really an option to make anything lighter. Hence my question

Any extra buoyancy added must be added to the outside below the current water line (like a "lifejacket") to increase the volume of the vessel. But I guess this won't make it look too good.
Or convert it to a diesel or glowplug power plant.
What makes you think it is sitting too low? Perhaps it's as it should be?

I suppose you could be right ? Once it is on the plane its probably okay.
It is a joysway magic vee micro speedboat , only about 7 or 8 inches long.
I Should have worded it better NJ The reasoning I meant was. it wouldn’t make the hull float higher.
