I have a Samsung tablet that has died (nothing to do with battery/charging etc) Has anyone had Samsung do repairs for them? I'm just wondering if they charge a hefty fee just to look at it before they even do anything.

the price of repair would probably be the same as buying a new one
I've got some experience of Samsung service agents. In the UK, Samsung have authorised only one company to carry out repairs to tablets and mobiles and I've dealt with them twice. They carry out repairs within and outside the warranty periods and will not charge a fee to look at the tablet.

First of all though, it would be useful if you could provide the model number of the tablet and if it is out of warranty. If the tablet is out of warranty, do you have a rough idea of how long ago the warranty expired?

Thanks for the replies. Its a Tab 3 out of warranty. I'm in HK at the moment and took.it to Samsung here but they said it would take about 3 days to sort out and I'll be back in the UK by then. I was weighing up the idea of repair costs in the UK against buying a new one here which will be a better price. If there is no set fee for repairing, I think I will just take a chance on Samsung fixing it and if they can't, I'll get a Tab A or similar from Tesco. Thanks again.

For the record - Samsung charge £20 (in the UK) to inspect a damaged tablet.
237, I'm sure if you purchase a lappy outside the UK the warrantee does not stand.

TWR - Samsung and Apple tend to have worldwide warranties. Not that it makes much difference as most devices tend to pack up after the warranty has expired.
I have read somewhere if the item has packed up after 1 year you can still put in a claim, I'm talking about 13>>14 months.

The tab is at least 3 years old TWR (or one year old in my life because I only use it when I am away) I think the problem is battery swelling and before I bin it, I am very tempted to have a go at fixing it myself. I love taking things apart and putting them back together again so might have a go for the hell of it.
I'd wait until you get home 237, have you been down Electric Street lol lol? Nathan Road.

From Electric st - have you been on the no 63 bus (from Fortress Hill) to Stanley? That must be one of the most scenic bus rides in the world. I have an Octopus card now so I must be a local!
It's an Eye Opener, good luck with the Lappy I hope you sort it.
We went up the Mount then on to the cable car, the Biggest Budda, did you see that?

Yes, I have done the Big Buddha on the glass floored cable car. It`s lovely when you can hear the sounds from outside of the car (birds, waterfalls etc)
