Hi, I have an Eccles made safety lamp.A retirement gift for my father 35 years ago. The info on the attached plate says Type 6, M&Q, approval No B/28 makers Eccles. The flint mechanism works and there's a place to fill it. Can it be used and if so, what do I fill it with.Thanks

Lamp oil should be available from any traditional hardware store, or from retailers such as Robert Dyas, as well as online:

I used one down the clay mines in my youth (late 1970s) they are very often a pain to light but once lit they arey are great lamps.
