Whilst on holiday I damaged my foot on a concealed step at our hotel, it's badly bruised and painful . I asked several hotel staff if they had an accident book to report it but was told they don't. Wil be calling the GP as pain hadn't subsided.

Do I need to do anything re travel insurance now I'm back home?

I didn't seek medical advice there as was leaving the following day and felt it would calm down.

The step was like a small raised plinth next to the bed which was carpeted the same colour as the floor so nigh on impossible to see.

Thanks

I'd doubt you had bills to be settled by your insurance unless there was something unrevealed.

If may be useful to tell your travel agent so they can apply pressure to a) have the step more visible, and b) encourage a better system such as one with accident books.

Where were you on holiday?

I don't understand what you expect from your travel insurance?
You have to inform your travel insurance company when the accident happened, not when you get home.

Well thats what happened to me, and it was a lot more serious than your injury.
Still confused as to what Greedy expects from them as there are no medical bills to settle.
Yes me too.

Insurance covers you for specified financial losses, greedyfly. You have not suffered any. As OG says, it may be worth informing the travel company so that (a) the hazard might be removed and (b) there is a proper reporting process for accidents (neither of which they will probably do). But that's another matter.

I don't expect anything from the insurance I just want to know if I should report it should this turn out to something more than bruising.
You don't have to pay to be treated in the UK.
You might be, I'm not sure, confusing your situation with the case where you hurt yourself at work. At the time, the injury seems insignificant; however, you should always report it to the employer in case it worsens and you find yourself having to apply for Workers' Compensation, or whatever you call it in the UK.

I am aware of that, I am not planning on claiming anything I was asking as a person who has never had an accident abroad if I had to report it but thank you for the answers guys.

You are not having much luck are you- was it the same foot as the badly bruised toe you got from the accident a few weeks earlier?
Was the hotel abroad as their laws may be different about recording accidents? think you should tell the travel company rather than your travel insurer
Type Your Answer Here...If it does worsen you could contact an accident claims solicitor/claims company

Fiction factory - I am generally unlucky to be honest, the other foot this time :(

I've already reported it to the hotel so will just leave it there, let's hope the feet have a rest now.
