I bought an item and paid £350 using Paypal but using my credit card as finance, not my Paypal balance. Fine -except I had to return the item. The merchant issued a refund through Paypal on 23rd July and after a few days of looking at my credit card statement on line nothing had appeared. I contacted merchant who assured me they had processed refund. I contacted Paypal who confirmed they had issued refund back into my account on 24th July. I contacted my credit card company who said there is no evidence of a refund pending from Paypal to my account and to get back to Paypal. I did this and Supervisor from Paypal confirmed refund had been issued back to card. Credit card company are now insisting its a Paypal problem -Paypal say its a bank problem -i'm £350 out of pocket and really don't know where to turn -major stress can anyone help please?

i am confused - do you have 350 in your PP account? If so draw it out and pay the CC
Have you checked your Paypal account to see if it's in there.
Do Paypal transfer to credit cards? Have you checked your bank account that is linked to your Paypal account? It might be in there.

no that would be easy - I funded the purchase through my CREDIT CARD. When you pay through Paypal you have the choice to to fund the purchase using your paypal balance or a credit card -I chose the credit card as the purchase was private and my paypal account is a business account. Paypal have refunded the Credit card company but the credit card company say they have no record of the payment. Therefore I am £350 in debt to the credit card company and no one is taking responsibility.
When ever I have received a payment into my Paypal account I have had to move it to where ever I want it to go ( current account etc ) my self.
Did you talk to paypal by email or telephone ?.
I am having exactly the same trouble with a refund. I have contacted my credit card company who say they can not do anything until 11 August but I do have an email from the company stating they have refunded my money via Paypal and it does have the last four digits of my credit card on the email so the credit card company have said that if the money is not showing on my statement by 11 August, there should be no problems for them to follow it up. Do you have any correspondence from the company stating they have refunded you and it has your credit card details on it? I'll update you after 11 August if your problem is not sorted.

thanks janeNS. paypal have confirmed the original merchant initited a refund and they have also confirmed the last four digits of the card they have put it back on, which is correct.I have a transaction number paypal gave me over the phone linked to the refund they placed back on my card. They have suggested waiting another 5 working days to see if it arrives back on my card and if not then i will have to wait until 30 days after the refund was processed before they can do anything. the transaction is not showing no my paypal log as it was funded from a credit (not debit) card. I have to say that Santander zero (the credit caard provider) are doing nothing what-so-ever to help and are just lobbing the ball back over to paypal who have been very helpful.
I'm not sure what Santander can do if they have no record of the payment in

factor-fiction, maybe you are right, thinking about it rationally its paypal issuing the refund and if it does;nt arrive in the correct account then its their fault perhaps.
I am thinking the same as Black-Cat...I had a bit of a problem once over a refund, where PayPal said it had been refunded yet not showing back into my bank account.I rang them..find their Customer Service very good...he explained...What had happened was, they had refunded it into my PP account...I had to then move it to my bank.
All my Paypal transactions are taken off my credit card and they all show up in my Paypal logs.

When looking at your logs make sure that you are looking far enough back - default setting is last 7 days.

Click on View all my transactions

Then select from Select drop down or change the dates

tuvok-i have an online shop -Ido about 100 transactions thru Paypal a week and know paypal back to front -thanks for the advice but if you read my response you would see that payPal have already confirmed they have sent a refund back onto my credit card
Apply to the credit card company to reverse the original payment.

Posting this as a follow up part one: I now have the Paypal Refund transaction number from the Merchant. I now have the Paypal credit transaction number back into my account and have verified it is the correct credit card number. I've been told it could take up to 30 days to show in my bank account. I want to know who the funk is getting the interest on my £329 for the next 30 days cos I certainly aint ;-(
When you say bank account do you mean credit card account?
I'm not sure what interest you should be getting
If you are waiting for your credit card company to refund a credit balance to your bank account I suppose the 30 day wait is only the same but in reverse as what happens when you pay for something by credit card- you get maybe 30 days before the bill has to be paid and meanwhile you may get interest while your money is in the bank for 30 days

no factore-fiction my tyo -it will take up to 30 days for the refund from paypal onto my Credit Card account to show up. They(Paypal) say they've issued it on the 23rd but could take up to 30 days to be shown as a credit refund on my credit card account - Meanwhile I'm paying interest daily on an amount that is still showing as a debit, the money must be somewhere but paypal have;nt got it and neither have I.
I'd pay the bill then. You get around 30 days free credit when you buy something on credit card. With their high rates of interest it makes sense to pay bills before they start to incur interest.
