By replying to the ad you are interested in. Then arangement is made for viewing, buying ,address where item is etc. Usually by email or ad can contain a phone number.
I've never used it, but being nosy I just wondered what you are selling and why Gumtree?
Doh! Just realised you are buying, not selling.

It has been a long day. Sorry.

calme toi, mesdame o x

I emailed two ads back today with a couple of queries giggsie, but no reply yet. Who does the arranging?
Hi can take awhile to get answers as email goes through gum tree then to seller. The same happens with your reply so depends when seller receives and replies. Once you have your reply then you can make arrangements with seller for viewing etc.
They do it this way to protect your email, you don't know theirs or them yours.
Can depend when the seller checks emails, they may have been at work or have ither commitments. Not unusual but then again you do get the odd ones who don't bother to respond if its already gone. In my experience gumtree ads stay on forever so difficult to know sometimes

I've made a couple of successful enquiries to Gumtree ads but all those I've seen give a phone number. Not tried e-mailing.

ta prudie,I'll have another look
Question Author
nope, only email, bummer
I'd only use Gumtree as a last resort
Question Author
why's that baz?
most cases theres no comeback if theres a problem, short of treking back to where you bought the goods.

usually no garauntees

too many people selling duff goods and also misrepresenting them in their ads.

Lots of ripoff merchants fencing stolen items

I could go on........
Buying second hand goods anywhere comes with those risks, nothing wrong with gumtree IMO

well, since neither vendor has responded to an email enquiry, it looks like it was an academic question, thanks for your answers though
