The Northern hemisphere is about 60.7% water and 39.3% land.

The Southern hemisphere is about 80.9% water and 19.1% land.
Approx 67%, based on Clanad's information

thanks for working that out factor - i trust you, you're a maths taecher
You don’t have to be a maths teacher, bednobs!

The sum of the land percentages is 58.4 (39.3 plus 19.1). To find out how much of this is in the northern hemisphere divide 39.3 by 58.4 to give an answer of 0.673 or 67.3%.

It’s what we called “problems” when I was at primary school!
I have one of those maps. Great fun! It certainly puts a new perspective on things. Like the Aussie expression, ''I've decided to move down north!''.
Okay, again using clanad's figures, what percentage of the world's water is in the southern hemisphere?
You already know how to do it factor!

For those that don't, I make it 57.1%.
Yes, that's what I got. I just wondered whether someone might say that the answer has to again be 67.1%.

i'm sure i'll be berated again for being a maths dunce, but how much of the world is land compared to how much is water please?
it's about a 71% 29% split.
... or the other way round.

Bednobs- because the two halves of the world are of equal size we can just take the mean of the two figures. So to find the land % we can just take the average (mean) of 39.3 and 19.1
oppps, yes so it is :)

29.2% land and 70.8% water
