hello I need wndows fixing for a house I have bought I have a fensa certificate dated 2003 but it does not state the period the windows are covered, It's is anglian, so do I just write to them at their head office and ask, wouldn't they just screw me and say there is nothing left on the warranty?

i didn't realise that a fensa certificate was a warranty
Question Author
"5 - 10 year insurance backed guarantee available to the homeowner on every installation"

Well it says this on the Fensa website, the owners said there was guarantee left, if there is other paperwork I will have to ask the previous owners. but all these guarantee's are transferable so I hope the certificate will be enough and the period to claim is recorded by fensa or anglian controlled by fensa,
i alwys thought that the FENSA certificate was to bypass the need for building regs - ie it has guarunteed that the windows have met safety standards and thermal insulation standards etc,
Why greater protection with a FENSA registered firm?
1. Regular assessment of FENSA double glazing companies by an 'independent inspection body'
2. 5 - 10 year insurance backed guarantee available to the homeowner on every installation
3. FENSA Building Regulations certificate dispatched to the homeowner for every registered installation as proof of compliance
4. Your property will be compliant with Building Regulations without the added cost and time of arranging assessment by Building Control.

The above is on my Fensa cert. However you should have a separate warranty from Anglian Windows as I have from Global Windows.
I went through a similar thing with Safestyle; turns out the 10 year policy goes with whoever took it out, eg the people we bought the house off. They wanted 75quid to transfer the policy. LOL, did they think the owners would take the windows with them?
Question Author
yeah Anglian are charging me £49 to transfer ( but I have two policies) and then say if the windows are broken by a previous owner then they are not covered, if they are to be fixed we pay a call out charge so it basically looks like it will cost you which ever way you look at it. Iti might be better just to get them fixed by someone else recommended locally.
