using wood paint on a normal wall

ow!!! i'm such a dumb arse, i wanted to touch up a few parts of my off white walls, but i used wood paint by mistake and that's made the area go darker than normal. I've just tried to paint over it with the right paint but it's made the the area around where i painted it with the wood paint go white with a hint of pink and the area that i painted with the wood paint is still the same colour. i don't know what to do. i was thinking of striping the whole area i messed up and just starting again but don't know if that will work :-(

Rub the wood paint off and start again.
Easy if water-based.

Use a scouring(scotchbright) sheet and water/fairy liquid.

Is it oil based paint though O? If so then you may have to let it dry then paint over with the wall paint which I presume is emulsion. It would help if you have some of the original paint left but if not you may have to repaint the whole wall as anything else would show.

This reminds me of something that happened years ago when we were kids and our parents were out. I threw a plastic bag of ink at my younger brother - and he rather unsportily leapt out the way! The bag burst on the lounge wall which was white emulsion so the wall was spattered with blue! I thought if I painted over the ink with white my parents would never find out by the time they got back. I found some white paint in the garage - but it was oil-based wood paint! What a mess! My father had to repaint the whole wall. Of course, I blamed my brother!

oh my days Andy, that's funny, i can see myself having to repaint the whole dam flat. There's about 12 random dark patches where i tried to paint over some marks. It wasn;t even that bad in the first place i should of just left it. The paint is a environmentally friendly one called ecso that is solvent free. I'm not 100% sure if it's the one that was first used as i found it in the storage area to my flat. i might ask the site manager what the right colour is as he painted it in the first place. Can't believe how bad it all looks, feel so :-(

That;s the trouble with paint Ooh-la-la. Even if you have found the original stuff most paints tend to alter slightly with time. It's usually an effect of light making it age. Car paints are terrible for that and you can often tell when a car has had a spray repair or a new panel.

I'm sorry to say it, but you might have to repaint the whole wall! Good luck!

god dam it!!!! ow well never mind it's gonna give me a good excuse to buy myself a paint pod now!! thankyou for your help immma try al's idea first though, really hope it works xx

Yep - anything's worth a try. You can't make it any worse it seems. If the worst comes to the worst - let us know how the Paint Pod is! I've seen them on TV and they look quite good.

lol!! knowing me i'll prob dissolve the whole wall!! lol!! i will, they do look good don't they, have been considering getting one as never really liked the colour of my flat. It's such bad timing though as i'm renting out my flat while i go away for a few months, and they'll prob wreck the paintwork by the time i come back. And i have a viewing on monday :-(
