I have a lovely Victorian cast fire surround and want to fit a taper gas insert fire into it. It seems the inset gas fire requires a fireback! I wonder if anyone know anything that may assist before I take on this task? Living in a Victorian house I have a stone flue, and the hearth currently has had a gas fire in it which I fitted some 20 years ago. My problem is first and for most that, It appears that most of the heat will disappear up the chimney where as the fire I have at the moment is not open to the flu!! Obviously safety is first and fromost in my mind. Any help would be appreciated.
