There is a painting in the NPG called 'Dinner at Haddo house', by Emslie 1884, featuring, amongst others W.Gladstone around a dining table. On the table are 3 candelabra, on all the candles are what appear to be small red lampshades- what on earth are they? Has anyone ever seen anything like them?
